I usually do a full piece to completion on any build to get a feel for the detail and the paint scheme. For the big mek, I selected the head because it has a full range of textures and colors. It's a variety of different types and thickness of foam and a little PVC pipe. Created the texture in the flesh by smearing Kwik Seal over it ans then used stippling anf brushing techniques.
